Three cheers for coffee

Worsborough Mill Another gorgeous place to visit is Worsborough Mill. We love it here in all seasons. We love to walk around the reservoir, especially as the sun is setting over the water. There is a lovely shop selling the mill's flour and Miller's cafe next door. This is another dog cafe to we have added to our list and the food and drink is lovely. We sometimes grab a take out to walk around the reservoir with. Their sarnies are lovely and flavoured lattes. I keep saying I am going to try their Chai tea latte. I have seen special gin nights advertised which look really good. There is a little playground you can go in and just past there is a lovely walk over two bridges and the other day was gorgeous with the blossom in bloom and the birds singing. We enjoyed going into the mill museum as children and the massive wheel part always fascinated me. We visited one Christmas a few years ago and it was so magical. Always time for Thyme! I have always enjoyed visiting Cawthorne garden centre and loved watching it develop over time. My favourite part was the magical Christmas section, brimming with quirky ornaments and lights. Then going in the January sale for a bargain or two! Now there is so much on offer, from gorgeous jewellery (love hot tomato stuff), clothes and a dog section selling lovely things. Their outdoor plants and flowers are amazing too. Thyme Bistro never fails to amaze. We go for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or just a coffee. I love their illy coffee even though my fingers get stuck in the small handle! The cakes on offer are fabulous and I love their elderflower , rose and pistachio! Dogs can sit outside with you on the terrace near the little stream. In Summer, the yellow roses smell divine. Feel at home in Holmfirth! I have always enjoyed visiting Holmfirth, famous for Last of the Summer Wine. I have lovely memories of visiting here on a Sunday walking round with a bag of chips then browsing the wonderful second hand book shops. One might have been called the Tollbooth. It had floor upon floor of books, wall to wall. It was a book lover's paradise full of hard backs. We also visited Daisy Chain books I think it was called. Up a cobbled lane, It was a cosy, little second hand bookshop. I always came home with a bag full! More recently, the first book shop is now the marvellous Oxfam shop which we love visiting. We browse the amazing charity shops full of quality ware and go for an ice cream at Longley's cafe, my favourite being the ginger flavour brimming with crystallized cubes. The coffee is lovely there too. On a recent visit in the cold rain, We were looking for a doggy cafe and to our delight, we found the gorgeous Ribbles Cafe. Dogs are allowed downstairs...

The Pavillion Cawthorne Park has such lovely doggy cafes and this little gem is one of them. Doggy, not foggy as I wrote in one blog. I am typing as fast a my mind is thinking! I say doggy cafe because you can sit outside with them. 5he tables are under a shelter and you are provided with blankets. We always aim for a certain table that gets the most sun! There are always fresh flowers on the tables and at the moment, they are daffodils. This cosy cafe is such a find. It offers gorgeous sandwiches and soups and the homemade cakes are very moreish! We order a dog sausage so they aren't left out and there is always a bowl of water for them. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. We love to sit with our flat whites which are amazing. You can see down to the lake and up towards Cannon Hall but my favoutlrite view is the gorgeous white blossom tree. Cawthorne Park Continuing with the dog friendly cafes I will share my love of Cawthorne Park with you. Cawthorne Park is one of my all time faves. It is seeped in wonderful childhood memories of feeding the ducks and geese, then sitting in the warm sun eating a picnic. I remember walking for ages before we could put the picnic blanket down so it was safe to sit amid the goose poo! We would bring every outdoor game going and play cricket, rounders and football till.the sun set behind the rolling hills. I used to look up at the towering Cannon Hall in such awe. I used to think that was where our queen lived. We loved rolling down the steep hills in front of the house, not even caring to swerve any duck or goose poo! More Zorro Lounge I was not aware that this quirky, magical place was actually a chain of cafe bars so I was really surprised when the new cafe at Fox Valley was Zorro Lounge. It is a little smaller but soon as you walk in, that lovely, vintage atmosphere hits you. What was even better was finding out this vibrant cafe bar is also dog friendly. We regularly take our doggies and they are given water bowls and treats. Zorro Lounge staff are so friendly and the menu is amazing. Brunch is delish and the tapas is so good. I noticed a Vegan and Gluten Free menu too. I love the vibe here and the music played whilst you are relaxing. I also noticed there is a book shelf full of fab books for customers to do a book swap. Zorro Lounge When we found this fabulous place in Glossop, I should have known it was going to be amazing. I love the film Zorro with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones so I should have known we would be in for a treat. It was a miserable morning as we sat in the car with our flask, looking over at the grey skies and hoping the rain would just blooming well go away. I was relieved when we turned around to go find a cafe in Glossop until the rain stopped. My goodness. We did not find just any cafe but the Zorro Lounge. I immediately fell in love with it. With everything. I kept exclaiming about the pictures, the ornate mirrors, the glimmering chandeliers and the quirky furniture. The menu did not fail to excite me either. We ordered brunch to fuel us up the mountain and strong coffee. After a while I posed the question, would it hurt to have a cocktail? Of course not!
