Balance yourself
Balance yourself
I remember the fab TV programme from the 80s Crackerjack. I loved this programme with Stu Francis presenting it. Abd The Krankees! My main memory of it is when the contestants played the balancing game. They had to stand on a box and balance allsorts in their hands. I remember cabbages being held. Brilliant game!
But that's life isn't it? Holding as much as you can and taking on more and more until something, a cabbage drops. We have all done it. Keep saying yes to everybody and everything, while everything just builds up and up and up. Then, wham! The cabbage falls, rolls out of your hands and the seemingly ok you, the you that appears to be coping, just crumbles. We learn, the hard way, that we need to balance. We cannot hold onto everything and be everything. We have to prioritise what we can give our time and effort to. What we keep and what we let go.
We see we are better trying to manage a few things, rather than try to manage the lot and fail!
Life is one long balancing act. Like in a circus. You juggle it all and it can be tiring. You can also miss the moment, the fun there is to be had.
I love this artist on facebook, Cally Jane Studio and love this artwork.
This is so important. Something to think about!
We try for a work/balance. I do love the quote 'work to live, not live to work'! Also, 'work hard, play harder'!
It is hard balancing it all. You can feel like you are not being efficient in some areas of your life. I love this quote.
This is such a good quote too. I did let failure go to my heart when I left teaching, but slowly that has been replaced by remembering all the amazing times, not just the low times.
Life is about working and trying hard. It is though, also about looking after yourself and resting when needed. It's not always about being a busy bee!
To balance out your life, you do need to have 'work, rest and play'. As in the Mars advert! However you rest, do it! I love reading and feel it does balance my mind.
And play! Make time to let your hair down and laugh!
It takes time to realise. I love the idea of working on what is needed, then the rest coming together..
Dolly Parton got it right! As she always does!
We do love in a world of extremes so it is hard, at times to find a balance.
As a person who is all or nothing, it has taken me a long time to get to a place where I have some balance. I am still working on it!
So keep remembering that when balancing everything, some balls will need to be dropped for you to keep going. And that is what is important, the keeping going bit.
Not easy getting that balance and sometimes you find it late in life when you realise all the things you've missed out on.
