Always time for Thyme!



I have always enjoyed visiting Cawthorne garden centre and loved watching it develop over time. My favourite part was the magical Christmas section, brimming with quirky ornaments and lights. Then going in the January sale for a bargain or two!
Now there is so much on offer, from gorgeous jewellery (love hot tomato stuff), clothes and a dog section selling lovely things. Their outdoor plants and flowers are amazing too.
Thyme Bistro never fails to amaze. We go for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or just a coffee. I love their illy coffee even though my fingers get stuck in the small handle! The cakes on offer are fabulous and I love their elderflower , rose and pistachio!


Dogs can sit outside with you on the terrace near the little stream. In Summer, the yellow roses smell divine. It's a little suntrap and a good place to relax. They have made a cosy doggy cafe too at the side and you can order from the main menu. You can get a doggy sausage which they eat in 0.2 seconds then want more! All this writing about coffee has made me want one!

Bookshop Love

Bookshop Love I have grown up loving bookshops. I have so many lovely memories of bookshops, bookstalls and even book sales in the old library. I always feel better for a visit to a bookstore. All those lovely books waiting to be read, all in one place! I tell myself I am only looking. That I do not need to buy another book. Who am I kidding? I used to go with my dad to our old library to the Discarded book sale. Most books were hardbacks and were 10p or 5p. I would look through every stand and bring about 5 or 6 home with me, the word Discarded in pen across the first page. The summer fairs at various schools had fab book stalls too.  I loved our town library and visited regularly with my parents as a child. I loved choosing the books and getting them stamped. It was such a lovely atmosphere, downstairs in the children's library, especially after school in winter, all cosy, curled up with a book. I loved both my school libraries. A breath of fresh air

A breath of fresh air I love this quote. It is such a lovely thing to get some fresh air. It is also good to be fresh yourself too! And to surround yourself with others who are fresh thinking! Those who are like a little whirlwind, stirring up your passion to do things creative! I am lucky to know quite a few people like this! I have been called this too, in a few teaching jobs. Me with my 'flowery edges'. One of the best compliments I have ever had. I love compliments that don't just cover your dress sense and choice of hair colour. What is your vibe like? Once in a while, that needs complimenting too! When we are feeling a bit stuck inside, as in these lockdowns, or in Winter, it is lovely to wrap up warm and get out in the fresh air.
