A work in progress

A work in progress

Like every masterpiece, you and your journey, need time to get where you want to be. 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and your new journey isn't going to get from A to B overnight. You might go around the houses a bit, get stuck and wonder if you will get there but you will!

Embrace this new time in your life. Changes happen. Careers go off piste. Nothing stays the same as it was and we have to move with these changes.

As we do, we realise we change too. When I look back over the years, I have changed a few times, adapting as needed. Some harder moments than others!

These versions of you were all amazing but change we must as we grow in life!

We decide we have a different outlook on work and we want to try something new. A brand new challenge ahead!

Do not be afriaid to start anew with your career or anything! I was quite nervous, leaving a long career I loved.

Sometimes we defer change, fearing what will happen and whether we will be good enough for whatever is next. When you feel the time is right though, you do know.

It is good to have a plan about where you want to go next in life. A flexible plan that might change! I love this quote though. Let your dreams be your Sat nav!

It is great when we feel excited about change and starting something new. As much as we have lovely memories of what came before, we sometimes need to move on, when the time is right. I am very good at looking back and doing the 'coulda, shoulda, woulda' that everyone is brilliant at too! This way of thinking though, doesn't really get us anywhere. Try and think more about what you will do instead.

It is a good idea to focus on what is coming next, not about what didn't happen in the past.

Wherever you are in your life, whatever age, you can start over again. It's about having somewhere to start at and taking small steps. Try not to overwhelm yourself.

Start that new journey! Get some fuel and go! Even if you are unsure where to go first. Just step forwards. My new journey started as I went back to college and started learning again. I met some amazing people who were going through similar things are a few, like me, wanting to start a new career. What is fab is when someone is taking their first step too, along with you!

We are always journeying through life and it is important who we spend our journeying with. Who we are adventuring with along the way. Who is holding our hand, side by side. Who needs a hand up and help along the way. And who is leading us when we get a bit lost.

When we support each other, it helps us on our journeys. I really love this pinterest quote.

We are all in it together and all need help at different times. When we support instead of competing against each other, we are much likely to achieve better and have much more confidence.

Who we surround ourselves with on the way really matters and makes the journeying even more of a fulfilling experience.

It is good to realise too, when we have outgrown people and places. That feeling of 'my face doesn't fit anymore'. Once it doesn't, don't change so it does. Go elsewhere! We all need to feel appreciated in our work.

This quote is lovely too.

Comparing ourselves and where we are in life does not help. I have done it myself! It just attacks your self confidence even more. Everyone's life anf the stages they are at, all differ and are personal to them. These are wise words from pinterest. Youight ne using centimetres and they might be using metres!

In the same way, you might be more near the begininning whereas someone else may be near the end of their learning.

It can be hard, traversing through life. Making decisions and wondering if you are following the right path. Sometimes, we do reach a dead end. Maybe that road and the folk on it has past its sell by date? We may need to detour to another road? Is it a one way road where you are doing most of the work or a dual carriageway where people are working with you? Or a motorway going way too fast for you and you need to put the breaks on a bit, stop on the hard shoulder and take a breather? Relook at that map and consider the direction you are going in? Just like a long journey though, it is important to take breaks and rest too.

Life is not linear. In fact, it is messy. A little like a Spaghetti junction! It is messy but can be fun messy too! Creative projects make a mess but have fantastic results!

This is so true!

Life is hard. It is complicated. It doesn't always go to plan. Sometimes, we have to go with the flow!

We do sometimes have a picture in our head of what our life should be like at a certain time. This picture can stop us from enjoying where we are.

We need clarity, at times, to help us to drive through the mess and prioritise. We need support too, to guide us at certain junctions. We also need to realise that in between the messy days, there are still productive days. Look on the messy days as drafts! Every day is not going to be perfect. Life is about taking things a day at a time and adjusting as needed.

These are wise words. Life is real and gritty. It is good enough without being perfect.

And remember, we all achieve things in our own time, at our own pace. We may go forwards then back a bit, change direction and finally get there! But we got there!

It is never too late to try something new, in your career or as a hobby. We are always learning.

As Coldplay sings, we need to try to find out of we can do something. You might be amazing at it!

I am so good at putting things off. Even more so as I age. I am fab at procrastinating and do need reassurance and motivation at times from folk around me. I am better than I was though.

This is true. Our journey always has the chance to be changed going forwards.

When we embrace change, it is not an overnight thing. Becoming more healthy, retraining or starting a new career, learning a new skill or taking on a new hobby, all takes time.

As we work on ourselves, we aren't going to have it all perfect. Just keep remembering you are progressing.

When we feel we are struggling, keep going!

You never know who you are inspiring yourself by doing what you are doing!

I love this! Just like we embrace each season of the year and look forward to the special occasions each season brings, we can embrace our different life stages. Each one has its own specialness to it!

So remember, we need to be patient, and gentle with ourselves.

When we compare our journeys, try to look with a positive stare. Not everything is amazing as it appears on social media. Not all of the time. Cut yourself some slack!

What is fab is knowing we are trying our best and we have people supporting us. Each little step gets us where we want to be. This quote from pinterest is so lovely.

One of my fave facebook quotes though has to be this one, from Inspired Circle page. It always makes me smile!

Perhaps, like the next quote says, we need to get rid of some of the stuff we collect. And not just things but feelings and emotions. The 'What if?' thoughts and self doubt that weigh us down. We need to keep the good stuff that is us!
