The way we used to live. Through these blogs, I am loving journeying back in time. I have always been a nostalgic person and I am definitely a sentimental hoarder; I keep everything. I have school reports, certificates, show programmes, cinema tickets, cards, postcards and letters. You name it and I've got it! I keep saying I'm going to put them into scrapbooks but I never get round to it! Pinterest have so many ideas! But what makes the past and the time you grew up in so wonderful that you hold onto it and choose to revisit it so often? For me, it is a reminder of far simpler times and it is also replaying moments where loved ones were still here. We collect photos of moments so we can feel them again. I love the idea of collecting moments and memories, whether they are stored in a cupboard, a photo album or just in your head. These are precious and they belong to us. No one can ever take them away but they can be shared and laughed over. Even cried over....

A to Z of advice! I've written a few blogs now and come across quite a few quotes! Think I've picked up a few pointers! I've found writing my blogs and interacting on here with the comments and on my Facebook page, very therapeutic indeed. I've even changed my way of thinking for some things. I am good at giving advice to others, but now I need to start taking more heed of my own words. A bit like Cinderella in this quote! I thought of making an alphabet list of quotes and mottos that now inspire me every day. One of my first blogs was my two favourite mottos, my top one being, If you can't be kind, be quiet. That still stands. It is such a simple quote but it is so effective. There are so many moments in my day to day life where I, and others I know bite our tongues and count to ten, thinking of a more tactful way of wording something. Or just staying quiet! That's probably the easiest! This does not mean you are a push over. You can state your f...

Relight my fire! I kind of live my life at the moment through song lyrics! Another blog title I can't read without singing. Lulu has just popped into my head and I'm back on the dance floor in the 90s dancing away to Take That, throwing my arms in the air and enjoying life. I think, perhaps, I have fallen into the mid life trap of taking life too seriously for some of the time. I mean, life is a serious thing, obviously, but I've maybe been over worrying, over analysing and over thinking a lot of things. May be now I need to underthink and lighten my load. Sometimes you feel heavy shouldered, like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Fab family and friends do help to loosen that weight and it's slowly unloading! It's amazing how the little things people do for you, all added up together can help. I was speaking to a good friend a few months ago who said she was wanting to refind herself. I was like, snap! Turns out that we both felt like ...

Forty, not out! I grew up with Wimbledon summers. Proper red hot Augusts. Where have they disappeared to? I wonder as I hear the rain pour down on our window whilst writing this! I loved it when Wimbledon was on the telly for two reasons. 1. It made my mum's day as she was a real tennis fan and we'd have strawberries and cream, served with lemonade and imagine we were there, in the royal enclosure with our posh frocks on and parasols. 2. Just like the snooker players of this time, the tennis players had grit and character and were interesting to watch, especially John McCinroe. "You cannot be serious!" Loads of names come to mind, such as Bijon Borg, Chris Evett Lloyd, then Boris Becker. My blog started as a play on words using a tennis reference but I had to go with that flow because it brought back such fab memories. It also proves you don't have to understand something fully to enjoy it so much. So, the theme of my blog really is about age and embra...

Great Expectations I must admit I've never read the novel by Charles Dickens. In fact, I've only read his Oliver Twist. Just liked the title for my next blog as I thought it carried on nicely from my Let it Go blog. We all need expectations in life, as we need aims and purposes. However, perhaps, like me, sometimes we've been over expecting things. I'm sure a lot of people have. We kind of get an idea in our mind how life, events and people are going to be and when this veers off course, we struggle. We need to reassess our expectations of situations and people, and readjust realistically. Not everyone is like you; they don't think or act like you. Everyone has their own way. You can't expect people to always do what you would be willing to do for them. It's a hard lesson to learn, but it's true. On the radio, a relationship expert saying marriage between a man and woman was always going to be hard work because both sexes view expectations ...
